We are thrilled to announce that we've signed up the first two books in a picture book series George the Wizard from Gamilaroi man, ABC television presenter and former professional Australian Rules Footballer, Tony Armstrong. The series will be illustrated by Emma Sjaan Beukers, whose work is inspired by her Ngemba/Ngiyampaa, Dutch and Irish ancestry. The first book in the series is due to be published in October 2024.

Tony Armstrong said: ‘Great children's books transport you away to another place, even if it's only for a moment in time. To be given the opportunity to write one with the fantastic Emma Sjaan Beukers illustrating is something I am very grateful for. I can't wait for everyone to meet George because we had so much fun creating him.’

Emma Sjaan Beukers said: ‘I am so excited to be working with Tony and the Hachette team on this series! I can't wait for everyone to meet our George and fall in love with him like I have.’

Jeanmarie Morosin said: ‘It is an absolute joy to be working with Tony on his debut picture books. To meet Tony is to be struck by his thoughtful and unique take on the world, his creativity and his humour. All of those things are well and truly on display in this magical picture book series. Tony has such a clear vision for this series, and we feel lucky to be working with him on it, not least because it’s a lot of fun. We are so looking forward to sharing the fun and excitement with readers’.

Book one in the series George the Wizard by Tony Armstrong will be published by Hachette Australia in October 2024.
